This practice-led research aims to carve out a new field of thought in the Australian scholastic and artistic landscape that re-imagines the African experience as pertaining to Indigeneity, anti-Blackness and Afrophobia. Through my own positioning as an Indigenous African practitioner, I examine how the erasure of Africans from global Indigeneity is steeped in Afrophobia and anti-Blackness. By including African people in the discourse, we expand the thinking in order to understand why Black Afro-heritage is seen as fundamentally incompatible with Indigeneity.
