Improvement of Passivhaus simulation to narrow building performance gap

thesis
posted on 2022-07-13, 09:39 authored by YE KANG

Passivhaus (PH) design is rapidly spreading worldwide as its beneficial outcomes have been predicted by numerous simulation studies. However, actual building performances often deviate from the simulated results. This disparity between estimated and actual performance is defined as the ‘performance gap’. This work combines modelling efforts with a two-year monitoring campaign, and uses Australia’s first certified large PH building as the demonstration case to advance the robustness of PH simulation. The outcomes of this research could guide the improvement of future PH simulation models and assist designers in building renovation.
