Implementation of the My Therapy program across inpatient rehabilitation wards in Australian public and private hospitals: a process and economic evaluation of a self-management program within the rehabilitation sector

thesis

Within rehabilitation, people often receive less than the recommended amount of therapy. The My Therapy self-management program, focused on independent practice of exercises prescribed by an occupational therapist or a physiotherapist, is a way that rehabilitation patients can increase their amount of therapy. My Therapy was delivered to two out of three rehabilitation patients, increased therapy participation by 26 minutes per day, was well accepted by therapists and patients, without increasing the cost of the rehabilitation admission, compared to usual rehabilitation care. Future work will increase My Therapy reach to patients with cognitive impairment and lower levels of functional independence.
