This thesis investigated the role of cancer and treatments including surgery and chemotherapy on cancer-related cognitive impairment. Using mouse models of breast cancer and behavioural evaluation of memory, this thesis found that cancer-free ‘survivor’ mice show sustained cognitive impairment and neuroinflammation. The findings demonstrate a cumulative and long-lasting impact of multiple cancer-related events on the brain.
