Graphene, a sheet of carbon atoms has emerged as a potential coating material for excellent protection against corrosion. However, a process to synthesise a defect-free graphene sheet that is required for durable corrosion resistance needs to be established. This thesis identifies the influence of critical parameters for minimising the defect content of graphene developed by chemical vapour deposition, for the purpose of achieving durable corrosion resistance.
