Intelligent technologies are substantially changing lived experience globally, and necessitate new education approaches that emphasise humanness, ethical thinking and technological understanding. Through collaborative Design-based Implementation Research, with a school leader and teachers, this study developed the transformative pedagogy, Human Centred Learning (HcL). Participants’ responses to disorienting dilemmas caused by emerging technologies led to transformed meaning schemes and new planning for learning that recognises the implications of 4IR technologies. The study found that HcL facilitates capabilities-based teaching and learning grounded in humanness, to meet the challenges of educating for the cyber-physical world, so we can live well in a world worth living in.
