This thesis investigated how culture influences mental health attitudes and help-seeking
behaviours among Arab and Arabic-speaking men in Australia. Through three interconnected
studies, the research examined beliefs about mental health disorders, support sources, and help-seeking factors, Study 1 was a systematic review that collated and appraised the available evidence on mental health literacy among Arab men living in high-income Western countries. Study 2 explored the mental health literacy of Arab Australian men by gathering first-hand perspectives from the men themselves and Study 3, investigated service providers' perspectives regarding men’s experiences.
