This thesis focuses on three ex-Cathar Dominican inquisitors – Robert ‘le Bougre’, Peter of Verona, and Ranerio Sacchoni – all of whom were active between 1229 and 1263. It examines their contribution to, and influence on what would become the medieval inquisition, which was originally formed to destroy all heresies, including Catharism.
