This research developed an assessment tool to measure community participation for people aged 65 and older. The study found no existing comprehensive tool, so researchers created a list of activities and environmental factors that impact participation. Experts and older adults reviewed 70 proposed items, keeping 41, modifying 18, and adding eight new ones. The final tool, called the Community Participation Assessment for people 65 years and Up (CPA65Up), will undergo further expert review and testing to ensure clarity and effectiveness. This tool will help occupational therapists support older adults in staying active and engaged in their communities.
