Graeme C. Gunn a critical art history 1961-1981

thesis
posted on 2020-06-08, 02:17 authored by Judith Ann Trimble
This thesis examines in detail the oeuvre of architect Graeme Gunn, from 1961 to l98l. During the early seventies Gunn was one of the leaders of architectural design in Australia. This study of his work, in the context of Australian and overseas developments, questions the view that Australian architecture of the sixties and seventies is derivative and outdated; or that national identity is a relevant pursuit. In the end, the particularity of Gunn's architectural values accounts for the effects of tradition, modernity and originality in an architecture of meaning.
