Global Ambient Fine Particulate Matter Air Pollution and Human Health: Advanced Machine Learning Methodologies for Exposure and Health Risk Assessments
Outdoor air pollution is a major health risk, but its global health impact from short-term exposure hasn’t been fully measured. This thesis develops an advanced machine learning framework to create detailed daily maps of air pollution from 2000 to 2019 and calculate the number of deaths due to short-term exposure. It provides the first global review of daily air pollution and its associated death toll at global, regional, national, and city levels over the past two decades.
