Genomic evolution of Ricciocarpos natans: A monoecious liverwort derived from dioecious ancestor

thesis
posted on 2022-07-18, 02:03 authored by SHILPI SINGH

Ricciocarpos natans is a monoecious liverwort species which has evolved to harbour both male and female reproductive organs in a single plant which is distinct from its ancestor Marchantia. Ricciocarpos natans has also adapted to aquatic form with distinct morphology compared to its terrestrial form. Therefore, Ricciocarpos natans is suitable to study land plant evolution in context of water availability. This PhD thesis aims to address sex chromosome evolution and aquatic adaptation in Ricciocarpos.
