This thesis examined and generated knowledge on the implementation of The Sanctuary Model, a trauma-informed care approach in residential out-of-home care in Australia. The findings of this thesis address the challenges of implementing trauma-informed care in a complex system and reveal how the new knowledge gained can be translated into practice in the child welfare sector. This thesis builds the evidence-base for trauma-informed approaches in the child-welfare sector and is guided by Implementation Science methodology.
