General practitioners’ perceptions of e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation aid: Implications for policy and practice

thesis
posted on 2025-03-24, 09:56 authored by Melis Selamoglu
General practitioners (GPs) play a crucial role in supporting patients to quit smoking. E-cigarettes are increasingly being marketed to smokers as smoking cessation aids. Due to the limited evidence available around the efficacy of e-cigarettes as smoking cessation alternatives, there is ongoing uncertainty around whether or not e-cigarettes should be considered as a smoking cessation method. Melis’ doctoral research focusses on the perceptions of GPs towards the use of e-cigarettes as smoking cessation alternatives to provide useful information to guide policy on e-cigarettes both internationally and nationally on the potential role and place of e-cigarettes as smoking cessation aids.
