Gas Sealing Integrity of Cement-Bentonite Slurry for Cut-off Walls

thesis
posted on 2023-10-11, 07:48 authored by SARAH EMAD KADHUM AL-BAIATY
Cement-Bentonite (CB) cut-off walls are widely used as hydraulic and gas barriers around contaminated sites to prevent pollutants migration. The sealing integrity of the unsaturated section of the walls above the groundwater table is primordial to their long-term containment function. This thesis evaluates the unsaturated behaviour and gas transport properties of CB wall materials. The findings from this research provide the industry with a better understanding of the gas sealing integrity performance of CB wall materials and an insight into the mechanisms governing it.
