GRAPHENE COATING ON MILD STEEL FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE

thesis
posted on 2019-07-15, 06:38 authored by SANJID AHMED PATWARY
Mild steel is the most widely employed engineering alloy and the annual direct cost of corrosion of this alloy to an industrialised economy to be approximately 3.1% of the country's Gross National Product (GNP). Due to its extraordinary chemical inertness and impermeability, graphene can be an ideal candidate material for anti-corrosion coating on mild steel. This thesis deals with the challenges of depositing graphene on mild steel by chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and improved the corrosion resistance of this alloy more than 100 times by successfully coating modified mild steel surface by multilayer graphene.
