Indoles and oxazines derivatives are the most extensively studied and important class of compounds in organic synthesis. These structural motifs are present in many natural products and play a pivotal role in the drug discovery and development of modern chemotherapeutics. In view of their importance, the work of this thesis has been focused on the development of new methodols for their preparation using transition metal catalysts in an atom economical and selective manner. The first project focuses on developing a synthetic one pot chiral gold(I) catalyzed [4 + 2]-cycloaddition process for the assembly of oxazine derivatives. The second project deals with realising a rhodium(I) catalyzed atom economical synthetic method to access benzofused-indole derivatives.
