Functional reinnervation of the kidney following renal denervation

thesis
posted on 2020-10-29, 04:55 authored by MELISSA TJONGUE
Renal denervation is being trialed clinically for the treatment of hypertension. My project examined how the nerves regrow and function following denervation. My studies found that renal nerves regrow, but were sparse, and function was only partially restored. These findings may help explain the sustained fall in blood pressure following renal denervation in humans.
