This thesis investigates how new music technologies can help move audiences from listeners to players in musical experiences. The research is conducted using practice-based methods and critical reflection, and explores how audiences can participate in music through four main projects. These include interactive experiences ranging from a houshold object to a theatrical production. The thesis proposes practical music composition strategies to help active audience involvement in music, potentially revolutionising how we experience and participate in music in the future.
