The biggest problem we face globally today and in the future is invasive alien species. They are a problem in biodiversity conservation, and they are a problem in every aspect of human life, including public health. COVID-19 is perhaps the most relatable, infuriating result of an invasive alien virus. In my PhD thesis, I developed state-of-the-art tools and methods for forecasting invaders and their invasion to support biosecurity decisions — what species might invade, when it might happen, where it could occur, how it could happen, how often it might happen, and why these species are invading globally, and most importantly, how to put a stop to it.
