This PhD examines how urban design links high-level river revitalisation concepts to local implementation, focusing on the Citarum River in West Java, which contributed to delivering the Citarik Masterplan as the vision for river revitalisation. The findings highlight benefits such as providing a platform to communicate among stakeholders and bridging the gap between high-level strategic planning and localised interventions, alongside challenges like maintaining objectivity, lengthy processes, difficulties in transitioning from planning to implementation, and power dynamics among stakeholders. The findings can guide future urban design processes and integrate lessons learned into similar initiatives in resource-constrained contexts like Indonesia.
