Feeble Protests: Models of Emancipation

This thesis examines if the labour of art’s production and the formation of art’s value are exceptional in capitalism and if this exceptionalism constitutes a challenge to capital. This thesis uses the writing of Karl Marx to examine art's exceptionalism and challenge to capitalism through an analysis of my art practice and the work of Ray Johnson.
