This research investigates the sorption and desorption mechanisms between PFAS and geosynthetics (including geotextiles and geosynthetic clay liners (GCLs)) and sorptive materials proposed to be added to lining systems through batch testing. Furthermore, hydraulic conductivity tests were performed to evaluate the efficacy of a conventional GCL, an activated carbon-amended GCL, and an ion exchange resin incorporated into a porous geocomposite material in attenuating PFAS in landfill leachate and pure solutions. Additionally, the presence of PFAS in woven and nonwoven geotextiles commonly employed in composite liners was investigated via methanol extraction tests.
