The data interoperability is one of the key challenge in the healthcare industry and the healthcare providers are constantly working to find solution to solve this issue making the importance of interoperability standard is increasing rapidly. One key interoperability issue is the use of multiple data standards, such as HL7 v2 and FHIR for data exchanging in the healthcare settings. This thesis proposed a generic data mapping framework known as a middleware engine (ME), which would be used to exchange clinical data represented in HL7 v2 standard to FHIR standard and also perform descriptive data analytics on the data during transformation.
