Exploring the broad impacts of continuing professional development in the health professions

thesis
posted on 2020-08-13, 03:35 authored by LOUISE MARJORIE ALLEN
This PhD research explored the range of impacts of continuing professional development programs in the health professions. It showed that a range of impacts are possible, but that many existing evaluations focus on only a small number of the possible impacts. A new survey was developed, the first of its kind, that captures these broad impacts. The results of this PhD research informed the development of a new framework that will allow future evaluations of continuing professional development programs to direct funding to programs that are providing benefit to health professionals, and ultimately their patients, learners, colleagues, and organisations.
