This study is about a game localisation strategy known as transcreation and how it can affect user experience. Data was collected from my translations from English into Chinese. Gamers and translation companies have been surveyed and interviewed on the research topic. The research findings include a summary of game localisation challenges in China, a proposed classification of game transcreations, and the impact of transcreation on the gameplay experience. The results of this study suggest that transcreation improves players’ gaming experience and affects their purchasing decisions.
