This thesis explores the experiences and needs of women who were aged between 10 and 25 when their mothers passed away. The findings reveal that the experience of maternal loss during adolescence is unique and influenced by multiple contextual factors. Existing organisations are providing invaluable support to maternally bereaved women, however organisations face many barriers in providing said support. Narrative therapy approaches were identified as an appropriate supportive intervention, though greater emphasis on grief and bereavement support training for post-graduate psychology students is essential.
