thesis
posted on 2024-08-27, 08:06 authored by THOMAS JOHN COOPER COLLINS
Dysfunctional metabolism of fat can lead to the development of cardiometabolic diseases like diabetes and obesity, affecting both our metabolism and immune system. This thesis examines how cardiometabolic diseases diabetes and obesity impact the metabolism of fats in immune cells, particularly in the setting of heart disease. Tom discovered that the fat composition of immune cells is influenced by these cardiometabolic diseases, furthering our understanding of why immune cells aren’t able to function correctly in people with cardiometabolic diseases.
