Exploring food waste communication through the lens of the Socio- Cultural Ecological Systems model

thesis
posted on 2024-08-17, 03:34 authored by Eva Louise Jenkins
This doctoral research explored consumer food waste communication across different settings in the Socio-Cultural Ecological Systems Model. The four studies draw on methods from data science, social marketing, and public health nutrition. Findings from this research provide evidence of consumer priorities, such as the cost of food waste, overeating to avoid food waste, and the morality of food waste. This research also presented a successful co-design intervention for schools that focused on using leftovers to create healthy and delicious recipes. Overall, there is a need for comprehensive strategies and interdisciplinary collaboration to create change in the food waste landscape.
