Ischaemic stroke is a debilitating disease that elicits a significant inflammatory response within the brain and has few treatment options. Micro products released by stem cells, known as exosomes, have fewer limitations yet possess the same beneficial properties as their parent stem cells. This project investigated novel inflammatory mechanisms within the brain following ischaemic stroke. Furthermore, it examined the ability of exosomes from placental stem cells to improve functional and histological outcomes when given after stroke in mice with or without high blood pressure.
