In recent years, the role of digital technology to support higher education students has continued to be heralded. Yet, while much continues to be said about the ‘potential’ of digital technology for language students in higher education contexts, there has relatively been less empirical attention paid to students’ everyday digital experiences. This thesis explored the everyday digital practices of undergraduate English language students in an Omani university and examined the extent to which these practices pertain to their language learning and studying experiences. Findings suggest that students’ experiences with digital technology are more complex and multi-faceted than is commonly assumed.
