Experimental and Computational Investigation of Ionic Liquid-Assisted Formaldehyde Synthesis via Direct CO Hydrogenation

thesis
posted on 2023-06-20, 07:25 authored by NOOSHIN ASADI
Ionic liquids have gained remarkable attention as they are environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional solvents. The use of ionic liquids in chemical reactions can also provide considerable advantages such as enhanced production yields. This thesis explores the potential use of ionic liquids for improving formaldehyde production from carbon monoxide at lower temperatures and pressures compared to existing processes that suffer from significant energy losses. In addition, the computer-based methodology developed in this thesis provides in-depth insights into industrial scale designs and commercial viability of this novel process.
