Two-dimensional semiconductor materials have gained significant attention due to their novel electronic and optical properties, arising from the formation of exotic quasiparticles. One such quasiparticle is the exciton-polariton, which is formed by the quantum superposition of light and matter. Another closely related quasiparticle is the trion, a system of three particles bound together by the Coulomb potential. We explore the formation and interactions of these quasiparticles using quantum theory, aiming to leverage their unique properties in the development of advanced quantum technologies.
