Interrupted time series studies are an important research design for investigating public health interruptions, like pandemics. This thesis investigates how best to design, analyse, report and display the results of interrupted time series studies. The thesis demonstrates that there is a need to improve the quality of reporting of interrupted times series studies. It also provides guidance to researchers on the best choice of statistical analysis method as well as recommendations to improve the design, presentation, interpretation and communication of the results of public health interruptions.
