This PhD program is aimed at investigating current gaps in monitoring cardiovascular risk factors in primary care. Firstly, I provide a comprehensive summary of existing quality indicators used worldwide for the monitoring cardiovascular risk factors. Secondly, I examine gaps in the monitoring of cardiovascular risk factors, providing examples from a high- income country, Australia, and a low- and middle-income country, Nepal. Finally, I propose strategies to improve the monitoring of cardiovascular risk factors. These findings provide the evidence-base and tools for improving the primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
