Essays on subtle gender inequities

thesis
posted on 2024-10-14, 08:07 authored by Yee Wah Lisa Chan
Despite laws against discrimination and efforts by organizations, many nuanced forms of gender inequities in the workplace continue to persist. The three chapters in this dissertation focus on subtle sources of gender inequities in the workplace that often operate against women. Using a mix of experimental and observational methodologies, the three chapters respectively provide novel insights on gender discrimination in hiring, representation of women in management positions, and the gendered impacts of school holidays on parents’ labor supply.
