This thesis investigates the design, fabrication, and mechanical properties of hierarchical honeycomb structures via the Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) process. A novel hierarchical design method has been proposed in micro-, meso-, and macro-scale for tailoring relative densities and mechanical properties. The combination of foaming PLA and solid PLA enhances the advantages of honeycomb structures, addressing the shortcomings of traditional designs in terms of mechanical performance and energy absorption capability.
