Engineering novel graphene based neural electrodes

thesis
posted on 2024-05-20, 00:58 authored by MIHENG DONG
Invasive neural electrodes are important to treat neuronal diseases and to understand the function of the nervous system, but large stiff electrodes in soft tissue cause chronic inflammation. This thesis develops methods to coat metal microwires with graphene and to prepare flexible free-standing porous graphene electrodes. Both types of electrodes exhibit improved recording capability and may be of benefit to the next generation of neural prostheses.
