Engineering education for sustainability: An international cross-case analysis
thesis

There is limited empirical research for understanding the range of responses to sustainability in engineering education and how these responses are implemented by educators and experienced by students. To address these gaps, an international multiple case study explored how engineering education integrates sustainability into its curricula. The study used a conceptual framework for investigating the nature and purpose of educational responses to sustainability, which was refined through a conceptual review, fieldwork, and case-specific analysis. The cross-case analysis facilitated the development of a hybrid theoretical-empirical model that exemplifies the range of possible and actual responses to sustainability in engineering education.
