Water filtration membranes are a critical component to support water safety as they provide a barrier to enteric pathogens. Due to that, the integrity of the membranes needs to be monitored so water safety can be ensured. If the membrane leaks, the possibilities of larger virus particles to pass through ultrafiltration membranes are high, posing a threat to end-users. The sensor developed met the standards for testing water filtration systems at water treatment plants as requested by the water industry and regulators. Early and quick detection of membrane leaks can save costs and increase water safety.
