Electrosynthesis of sustainable chemicals and energy with Escherichia coli

The research investigates the engineering of Escherichia coli bacteria to improve the production of valuable chemicals with the aid of an externally applied electric current. Additionally, the engineered bacteria can also be employed to generate renewable electricity in addition to valuable chemicals resulting in a sustainable bioproduction platform.
