Research into bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3) has gathered a significant amount of interest recently due to the existence of strong ferroelectric polarization at room temperature and low band gap in the range of 2.2 - 2.6eV This project focuses on the electrochemical interaction between BiFeO3 thin film and a contacting electrolyte solution. Specifically, the research involves the manipulation of ferroelectric polarization state BiFeO3 film via an electrolyte-assisted poling method, using the BiFeO3 film as the photoactive material for photoelectrochemical reactions, as well as enhancing electrolytic conductivity via field-effect induced electric double layer on the BiFeO3 film.
