Palm oil intrusion in soil is a growing geo-environmental concern. This study focuses on addressing one such concern by evaluating the effect of palm oil on the compressibility and hydraulic properties of kaolin using robust experimental investigations. In conclusion, the presence of oil at low volumes show hydrophobic behaviour of clays while high volume of oil increases the blocking/clogging effects and exhibits material characteristics desirable for restricting contaminant transport through clays.
