Effect of Substrate Heating Strategy on Laser Directed Energy Deposited Ti-6Al-4V

thesis
posted on 2022-11-17, 00:42 authored by JIEXIONG WANG
Three substrate heating strategies have been applied to the laser directed energy deposition of Ti-6Al-4V. From experimental and numerical studies on the effects of substrate heating strategies on the in-situ temperature profile, residual stress, microstructure, and mechanical properties of deposited Ti-6Al-4V, the optimal substrate heating strategy has been recommended for the Ti-6Al-4V deposition, regarding the residual stress management and mechanical properties improvement. Furthermore, the mechanisms of residual stress formation and reduction have been established related to the in-situ temperature. The relationship between the in-situ temperature and microstructure of deposited Ti-6Al-4V has also been investigated.
