Educational leadership and glocalisation: the case of English Medium Schools in Bangladesh

thesis
posted on 2019-06-13, 01:14 authored by Nicola SumNicola Sum
The increasing spread of globalisation has changed the context of education. A changing context for education has implications for schools and for the leadership of schools. English medium schools (EMSs) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, sit at the intersection of rapid economic growth, an over-stretched local education system, a rising middle class population, and pressure to meet the development goals for education. This is an empirical study of leadership practice in the dynamic context of the EMS sector in Bangladesh. The purpose of the work is to explore the global-local, or glocal, implications for context, and the way in which leadership practice negotiates the changing backdrop to school life.
