EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDIES ON A PRESTRESSED TRANSFER PLATE SUBJECTED TO STAGED CASTING AND SEQUENTIAL STRESSING

thesis
posted on 2020-05-31, 12:09 authored by HIN FOO LOW
Prestressed concrete transfer slabs or transfer plates, are used to support high-rise buildings at transfer levels. This thesis researches its structural behaviour, particularly on the shear wall–transfer plate interaction and the effect of staged casting and sequential stressing of tendons. The research uses strain gauges to monitor concrete stresses of an actual transfer plate, and compare with the results of different Finite Element models. It also studies the effect of staged construction on the ultimate behaviours of prestressed composite structures by laboratory experiments. This research aims to develop design approach and guidelines for the transfer plate design.
