Motivated by the events of Black Saturday, the goal of this work was to develop a computer model to simulate the interaction between a bushfire and the atmosphere. This model was developed to provide a better understanding on how atmospheric features such as pyro-convection, cold fronts, and nocturnal bores can impact fire behaviour and increase fire risk. The research showed that it is crucial to understand the influence atmospheric conditions have on fire behaviour and how the fire modifies the atmosphere by creating its own fire weather.
