Do we preach what we practice? The development of competency frameworks in healthcare professions.

Healthcare practice is complex and requires a competent workforce. It can be challenging to identify what healthcare professionals need to know and do, because of the complexity of the healthcare system and the social structures in which it exists. This thesis examined how we identified the competencies required of healthcare professionals to date, and based on the findings, suggests how we can improve the identification and reporting of competencies in the future.
