Disinvestment and disinvestment research in healthcare

thesis
posted on 2021-03-25, 00:22 authored by Deb Mitchell
The cost of healthcare is rising and disinvestment in low value care will allow resources to be moved to high value care. Previous studies found that the disinvestment process was challenging and controversial for those health care staff involved. We asked staff about their experience of disinvestment from weekend allied health services. These services are challenging to manage efficiently but removing them caused loss and grief in some staff and threatened the power of others. Staff reactions evolved with time and change-management strategies such as the provision of data and clear and persistent communication approaches.
