Women of reproductive age are susceptible to weight gain and obesity development. Determining the role of diet, physical activity and behavioural factors associated with weight gain and obesity in women across key reproductive life stages (preconception, pregnancy and postpartum) is crucial to help in tailoring future weight gain prevention strategies for these high-risk populations. Overall, this thesis provides evidence of the contribution of specific diet and physical activity components to weight gain or obesity in reproductive aged women, as well as the specific behavioural strategies to include in interventions in weight gain prevention for supporting reproductive age women.
